Super-G visits Driftwell R/C Drift Arena!

This weekend Super-G headed out to visit Driftwell in Fresno, Ca
This has been a long time coming. When I say a long time, we are talking over a decade. We haven’t made it out to Jeremy’s orginal spot, but when we heard he had a new spot, we just had to make it out. This was SDC Round 1 for the Fresno / CenCal Region.
Joe and I met up with Chris and Juan from Team Super-G at Driftwell. We were glad to see Jonathan Belda and Robert Clincker there as well. We felt right at home!
From the moment we walked in we were very impressed. The first thing I noticed was they have an upstairs overlooking the track that can be used for judging. It made me feel right at home. The track is a good size and the layout flows well. Of course Jeremy has been throwing his artwork on the walls. Godzilla and Mothra are sick!
The Pits
Driftwell has their pits located in a separate room in the back, and the feelings is awesome! Open ceiling where the wooden structure is visible and brick walls with pre-existing windows still intact. This place has character! I would be lying if I said I wasn’t envious. There are some things you just can’t buy, and this place has it.

The Surrounding Area
Driftwell R/C Drift Arena is located in Japantown / Chinatown. The signs say Japantown, the maps say Chinatown. Maybe we all look the same? Ha ha! It’s really a cool area with historical buildings walking distance, as well as a old style Japanese market, Central Fish Market. That is where Driftwell has an outdoor track setup. The owner of the Central Fish Market has always been supportive of Driftwell and the RC Drift community, so he dedicated a spot in his parking lot for an ourdoor track! Joe also grabbed a Poke Bowl from there. He said it was really good!

SDC (Super Drift Competition)
We were lucky enough to be able to show up for Round 1. We were on a schedule, but even though the comp started a little late, we were able to stay for the entire qualifying. Jonathan Belda took TQ with a wicked run.

It was an awesome outing, something we don’t get to often do. We were really glad we made it out to Driftwell for their SDC Round 1. Can’t wait to make it out there again!
