SDC Super Drift Competition Round 5 Regional Finals
9/13/2025

Announcing the SoCal 2025 Drift King - Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G! Second Place - Mikko Yang of Team ReveD. Third Place - Alfredo Chan III of Team Weld/Overdose.
All 3 of these guys have been battling since we opened doors here at Super-G.
This season has been an exciting one that is for sure! The level of skill has really gone through the roof here at Super-G. I feel so lucky to have been witnessing how every one has been advancing throughout the years, and I have to say this year has reached a level I never thought possible.

Coming into the SoCal Regional Finals, Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G was leading by 1 point at 43 points. Alfredo Chan III of Team Weld / Overdose and Mikko Yang of Team ReveD were both coming in at 42 points each, and David Wessel of Team Bubble Milk and Jonathan Belda of Tech 1 Drift were both bringing up the 3rd spot with 36 points. All of these guys are no strangers to being on the podium, and with this round being double points, it was really anyone’s to win.

This round, Round 5 was judged by Shaine Collins, Manny Campalans, and Mike Holes. These guys did an amazing job. It had to be one of the more stressful ones, as everyone was well aware the stakes and emotions were high. As always, great job!!!

Top Qualifier - Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G!
First was Qualifying. Everyone was driving really well. Since we had a smaller turnout this round, 44 drivers, Qualifying went by quickly. In the end, Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G put down the top score of 83. This was enough to secure Top Qualifier (TQ) for the event! Congratulations Jason!

Next was the Lower Bracket. Albert Martinez of Team ReveD battled his way up, and secured the 31st spot in the Top 32!
Then it was showtime! SoCal Region Round 5 - Regional Finals TOP 32!!! After some really intense battles, it all came down to the Top 4. It was Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G vs. Fernando Cabrera of Shake & Bake for 1st and 2nd, and Chris Silva of Team Super-G vs. Tre Howard of Team Shibata for 3rd and 4th.

First up was Tre vs. Chris. Both put down some really good runs, but Chris had a few areas where he had some issues leaving the door open for Tre to take the win, and a solid 3rd Place! Congratulations Tre!
Next was what we had all been waiting for, Jason vs. Fernando for 1st and 2nd. Jason was first to lead, Fernando on the Chase. Jason put down another one of his wicked runs, while Fernando put up a great chase. There was very little room for error left by Jason, so it was clear Fernando knew the assignment coming into his lead. Right out of the gate Fernando was producing a really good lead, Jason answering right back with a tight chase as always. Then coming out of Zone 3 (into the Sweeper), Fernando had a slight miscalculation and backed it into the wall. That was all she wrote! Jason locked 1st Place and Fernando took a well deserved 2nd Place!!!

First Place - Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G. Second Place - Fernando Cabrera of Shake & Bake. Third Plcae - Tre Howard of Team Shibata!
Congratulations Jason - First Place and TQ, Fernando - Second Place, and Tre - Third Place! You guys killed it!!!
SoCal Point Series Finals
This was also the final round for the SoCal Region, and since we had to cancel the original date for Round 4 due to the political climate at the time, we pushed back to the following date for Round 4 and Round 5 became our Finals. We made it worth double since there may have been people relying on the the last 3 rounds to qualify for Worlds in a couple weeks.
Coming into Round 5 Jason Fordyce was the Points Leader at 43 pts. With pulling of a TQ run and First Place, this decisively put him as the winner of the SDC Super Drift Competition 2025 SoCal Region, and the title of SoCal 2025 Drift King!

The Second and Third Place Tie Competitors - Mikko Yang and Alfredo Chan III
For 2nd and 3rd Place, we found ourselves with a tie with both Alfredo Chan III and Mikko Yang being elminated in the Top 16. Make no mistake, these guys were on fire all night. Sometimes competition just goes that way. So with the tie, we normally would default to registration order to break the tie, but we thought it might be more exciting if we offered a battle to break the tie. We let Mikko and Alfredo decide. I suspect both knew who had registered first, but they both decided to settle it like true competitors would, THEY CHOSE TO BATTLE!

He doesn't have enough hands for all the trophies he's taking home today
First up was Alfredo on the Lead and Mikko on the Chase. These guys put down a near perfect Lead and Chase! The switched positions and did it all again! It was really amazing to watch. Mikko was able to edge Alfredo out by the narrowest of margins, but enough for it to be clear he was the one to take home Second Place, and Alfredo Third Place!!! This was one of he most exciting endings we could have imagined!

So a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to the SoCal 2025 Drift King - Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G, Second Place - Mikko Yang of Team ReveD, and Third Place - Afredo Chan III of Team Weld / Overdose! The competition was no joke here in SoCal this season, so landing anywhere on this podium speaks volumes!!!

The Boys - 3 different chassis, 3 different teams, long time friends making it happen!
NEXT, SDC Super Drift Competition 2025 Worlds - October 3-5!
