Super-G Raceway Soft Opening Race
July 6, 2024
There has been a lot going on here at Super-G during the past 9 months or so. One of the more exciting additions to the Super-G compound has been our 1:28 RCP Track just before the new year. We had set it up and had every intention of starting the racing right away. What we didn’t anticipate was although the cars are small, a larger size track seemed to be more desirable. This caused us to change the layout of our store to try to accommodate a larger track, but we still felt really confined. So we began restructuring things here, and before we knew it, we were moving our shipping department off site. This caused a huge delay in our forward progress with the 1:28 racing, but the time is finally here!
This past Saturday we had our first 1:28 race. Since this is a new avenue for us, we tried to keep the attendance to a minimum. We knew our regulars would most likely be here, and we could count on them to be understanding when we ran into hiccups. Of course we did, but the most important part was we learned and had a good time doing it.
We used the class standards PN uses for their races, since that seemed to be as good a place to start as any. Not to mention, they have been a huge help in getting us going here. We ended up with enough for 2 heats of Box Stock and 1 heat each of 2500kv and 3500kv.
Making the magic happen was our man, Joe Macasero. Since he’s familiar with the race program we are using (LiveRC) and his awesome announcing style he has developed in the 1:10 world, he was definitely the man for the job. He kept the event going smoothly and the racing exciting. We can’t thank Joe enough!
We ended up with 17 Racers with 22 different entries.

First Place - Alex M, Second Place - Louis, Third Place - Alan Benites

Overall our soft opening race went really well and we ironed out a lot kinks that we had anticipated and some we did not. The main focus was for everyone to have a good time, and that was accomplished. The feedback has been really good and even more so from the people who didn’t compete. It was clear everyone had a blast and everyone who sat this one out wished they hadn’t. We are excited to get this going on a regular basis. Thanks to everyone who came out to support this one. Also thanks to Joe for running the program, and the seasoned verterans, Alex, Matt, Louis, and Mario for all your help and feedback on what we can improve on. It’s only going to get better from here!
