SDC (Super Drift Competition) 2026 SoCal Round 1
SDC (Super Drift Competition) 2026 SoCal Round 1
This past weekend was the season opener for the Super Drift Competition (SDC) 2026 for the SoCal Region here at Super-G! It was good to get back to the comps and get the season going.
We started the week with a new layout for the track. Shaine Collins stepped up and laid out the zones for Round 1. It was a fast course this time around and it made for a really exciting comp.
73 Competitors for SDC Round 1 SoCal RegionDoors opened at 10:00am and immediately we had a good amount of drivers on the track breaking in tires and getting a feel for the layout. At 10:45am we had to go to Practice Groups to ensure everyone was able to get quality practice in.
The Judges
for Round 1 were Shaine Collins, Manny Campalans, and Brandon Britt. I cannot thank these guys enough for the stressful job they do for everyone. Judging a full comp of 32 is really rough. Doing more than double that is really taxing on the nerves. So a huge thank you to you guys! You are truly the heros of the event. I want to also thank Shane Buckridge for bailing is out of a jam and helping us with the cameras. This allowed Tyler from ScaleMagic to get back to what he does best after a season of doing the camera work for us.
We had 73 competitors this round and as I always say, the skill just keeps getting better and better. Thank you all for cooperating and making the comp run smoothly! Being the first one of the season, we had our hiccups, but overall I think it went well.

Qualifying
Our man David has been helping us streamline our scoring and how we display our qualifying results. This was awesome since we were now able to watch in realtime how the qualifying standings were going after each run. This made it exciting to watch as competitors worked their way into the Top 32, while others were slowly bumped down. In the end, Alfredo Chan III of Team Weld Overdose was able to pull off an 81 point run, barely edging out Kris Steele who had pulled an 80 point run earlier in the day. Congratulations Alfredo on securing TQ of the event!!!

Qualifying Scores
Battles
Finally it was the time we had all been waiting for, the Battles! With 73 competitors, we ended up with a Top 32, Lower 32, and a Bottom 11. This round wasn’t easy, and there were people who are no strangers to Top 32 in the Bottom 11. This just goes to show how much things have progressed and every round is anyone’s to win.
This time around in the Lower 32, Benny DeCorte defeated Alex Kingsbury to bump up to the 31st spot in the Top 32! Unfortunately, Benny had to leave before he could show what he had in the Top 32, but his performance up til that point was very promising. We hope you can stay next time Benny!

The Top 32 all came down to the usual suspects once again, Alfredo Chan III of Team Weld x Overdose vs. Jason Fordyce of Team Super-G for 1st and 2nd, and Mikko Yang of Team Reve D USA vs Jonathan Belda of Tech 1 Drift for 3rd and 4th.

Jason Fordyce - Team Super-G / Alfredo Chan III - Team Weld x Overdose
First up with Mikko vs. Jonathan. Both drivers put down a great runs, but Mikko was able to edge Jonathan out with a little bit better run securing the 3rd spot on the podium for Round 1!
Then it was time for what the day was all about, Alfredo vs. Jason. It’s always gauranteed to be a good battle with these two. Both drivers were able to produce amazing runs and definitely worthy of the top spot. Alfredo was able to secure 2 zones and Jason was able to secure 3. This was enough to give Jason First Place and the top spot on the podium, and Alfredo taking home Second Place! These two always put on a show!

Congratulations to Jason, Alfredo, and Mikko for taking the Podium!
