SDC Super Drift Competition 2025 SoCal Region Round 4
8/16/25

This past weekend Super-G hosted SDC 2025 SoCal Region Round 4. We were finally back from what seemed like forever since we cancelled last month’s comp due to protesting in our immediate area. There were a few people who expressed concern for their safety, so it was an easy decision to cancel.
Being as this round is the 4th round, we had anticipated it being a smaller turnout than the previous rounds, and we were correct. We had 44 competitors, and that really kept things short and sweet, but the action was intense none the less.
The judges for this round were the usual faces, Shaine Collins, Manny Campalans, and Brandon Britt. We cannot thank these guys enough for their hard work and dedication to SDC here in SoCal. Their consistency always amazes me. Great job as always guys!!!
The layout this round was different than what everyone had been practicing. I had taken out the tight infield and went with a small sweeper into the middle straight. My goal is to have every competitor here at Super-G to be ready for anything and be able to adapt to changes. Every layout has something that pushes the competitors skills. This time was outer zone to nose to straight. At the beginning of practice I witnessed a lot of people having issues with it. By the time it was comp time, everyone was nailing it!
Charles Ong - Top Qualifier 99 Points!
Qualifying
I have to say this round everyone was bringing the heat! We were seeing some amazing runs. As we approached the end of Qualifying, Jason Fordyce and Alfredo Chan III were sitting at the top with 89 points each! Then Charles Ong (Tech 1 Drift) came in and threw down a blistering 99 POINTS!!! Ninety-Nine!!! I believe that is the record since we have gone to P-Tile. Congratulations to Charles Ong on that TQ (Top Qualifier) run!

The Battle (Tsuiso)
First up was the Lower Bracket Battles. Even in the Lower Brackets there were quite a few of the heavy hitters. It just goes to show where the skill level is now. To make the Top 32 in a field of 44, you need to really put it down. Alex Kingsbury came out on top and secured the 31st spot in the Top 32!
Jason Fordyce (Team Super-G) vs. Jeremy Correa (Dialed In Smoked Out)
The Top 32 Battles were insane this round! A lot of really close battles, but every win was very decisive. It seemed as if the level of skill was pushing everyone to go all out. Nobody was going to cruise their way to a win. So this forced many mistakes since everyone knew they needed to get deep and on the walls in every zone. A shallow or missed zone almost guaranteed a loss.
TOP 32 BRACKET
The Battle for 3rd and 4th came down to Jonathan Belda (Tech 1 Drift) vs. Alfredo Chan III (Team Weld/Overdose). These guys are teammates of Tech 1 Drift and are always practicing together. So it was guaranteed to be a good battle. Both these guys put on great runs. Alfredo knowing he needed to go deep in Zone 4 found the wall just barely, but it was enough to give Jonathan the win, and a solid 3rd Place!
Then it was time for the Finals, Jason Fordyce (Team Super-G) vs. Jeremy Correa (Dialed In Smoked Out) First up with Jeremy on the Lead and Jason on the Chase. Jeremy put down an amazing run, He really left no room for error and would be really tough to beat. Jason’s Lead was equally as good, and Jeremy’s Chase was textbook perfect. Jason’s chase was the typical Fordyce chase, but Jeremy took Jason DEEP into Zone 4, and while Jeremy was able to pull it off on his lead, it took Jason into the wall. This gave Jason a hard fought for 2nd Place, and giving Jeremy the top spot on the podium with a solid 1st Place!!! Congratulations Jeremy!!!
First Place - Jeremy Correa (Dailed In Smoked Out), Second Place - Jason Fordyce (Team Super-G), Third Place - Jonathan Belda (Tech 1 Drift).

Jeremy - First Place, Jason - Second Place, and Jonathan - Third Place. Congratulations guys! This round has really shown how the skill level has really been elevated!
This round was a nice change of pace. We got an early start and an early finish. Everything ran smoothly and we were able to session afterward like the old days. It was one of the easier ones we have had. Round 5 will be the Regional Finals for SoCal and will also be Double Points. It will be the last warm up leading into Worlds!
The Top 3 Points Leaders going into Round 5
42 pts - Mikko Yang (Team ReveD)
41 pts - Alfredo Chan III (Team Weld/Overdose)
40 pts - Jason Fordyce (Team Super-G)
