SDR-030 Super Drift SD3.0 (Black/Blue/Purple/Red)
Introducing the new Super Drift SD3.0 to embody the latest drifting style! While increasing rear traction, it is conscious of the weight on the front to maintain maneuverability, and realizes the turning ability that experts prefer. In addition, the newly designed steering system with the steering wiper tilted forward suppresses the change in the angle of the tie rod when steering, improving stability during cornering.
In addition, the rigidity balance has been revised, creating a package that meets the demands of top drivers, from competition to freestyle.
The SD3.0 comes in four anodized colors. In addition to the standard black, you can choose from limited edition blue, purple, and red. We plan to increase the number of color anodized parts for drift-related parts, including existing parts, so customization will be even more fun.
The most distinctive feature of the SD3.0 is its newly developed steering system. It has a steering wiper + center link structure that is preferred by experts, but by giving the steering base a forward tilt angle, the tie rod moves in the upward direction when the steering is operated. The steering block side (outer side of the tie rod) also moves in the upward direction when the steering is operated, so unnecessary changes in the toe angle can be avoided, resulting in a neutral steering feel.
It also reduces bump changes caused by suspension stroke when cornering, so posture is less likely to change even when the throttle is applied, allowing for more aggressive driving with stable behavior.
We have also been paying close attention to the torsional rigidity of the chassis during development. The aluminum brace on the rear side of the front bulkhead has been fixed further back than before, greatly increasing the rigidity around the front. This improves the feeling of tracing the front and prevents the tires from getting caught.
A post is also installed in the center of the chassis, and the aluminum servo stay is also attached to the upper deck as a post. By fixing these posts, the rigidity of the chassis can be changed to your liking, making it easy to adjust to your operating style.
The aluminum bulkhead itself is the same as before, but it is now mounted slightly further back. On the entry-level RD2.0, it was mounted quite far back to ensure rear grip, but on the SD3.0 it has been moved about 3mm to reduce overhang weight and improve maneuverability.
The weight of the battery and motor is placed on the rear axle, and the angle of the universal shaft helps to increase traction, resulting in a weight distribution that perfectly balances stability and maneuverability.
A recent trend in drift machines is to mount the motor lower. Because rear grip has increased significantly due to load balance and mechanical traction, it seems that the benefits of mounting the motor higher have outweighed the benefits of mounting it lower.
Since the position of the motor can be changed with the SD3.0, it can be used as a setting point to change the balance according to the road conditions. Furthermore, by changing the rear bulkhead, you can select 3 or 4 gears, so it seems like it would be good to search for your favorite characteristics by adjusting the motor's counter torque setting.
