The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III WRC made its competitive debut in 1995, earning victory at the Australian Rally that same year. Powered by a turbocharged inline-4 engine producing 300 horsepower and equipped with a full-time 4WD system, this rally legend proved lethal in the hands of skilled drivers. Tommi Mäkinen described using the driving philosophy with the Evo III WRC as going "absolutely flat out everywhere" securing five WRC victories, ultimately securing the 1996 Drivers' World Championship.
