MERIKEN KNUCKLES v4 (w ONI BEA CERAMIC BEARINGS) - 1-10 RWD Drift Steering Blocks [HRC] HRC000075

Taking the freedom of setting even further.
Its most distinctive feature is a unique mechanism that allows for stepless adjustment of the Ackermann steering angle.

Unlike conventional designs that rely on large changes based on hole positions, this system allows for fine-tuning using the included shims.
In 1/10 scale RC cars, even a difference of just a few millimeters can significantly alter the Ackermann steering geometry, allowing for more precise adjustments to achieve the ideal steering characteristics.
Furthermore, it offers a wide range of adjustability, including kingpin angle, roll center, and tread.

"I want to customize the front end to my liking."

This front knuckle is meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail for users who are pursuing that kind of setup

Stepless Ackermann adjustment

The most distinctive feature of the MERIKEN KNUCKLES 4.

The tie rod mounting section is designed to slide, and by using the included 0.5mm and 1.0mm shims, the Ackermann steering geometry can be finely adjusted.

The shim can be inserted and removed even with the knuckle attached to the vehicle body.

You can quickly change settings while checking the driving feel on the course.

Furthermore, it is compatible with commercially available 0.1mm and 0.05mm shims, allowing for even finer adjustments.

Two types of tie rod mounting arms are included as standard equipment.

Two types of mounting arms are included, which can be used according to the direction in which the tie rod is installed.

It supports both "top mounting" like the standard Yokomo series and "bottom mounting" like the RDX series.

You can choose the mounting method to match your chassis, and replacing the arm is easy with just one screw.

Furthermore, a major advantage is that you can adjust the Ackermann steering geometry after setting up the suspension to account for bump changes.

Kingpin angle → Bump → Ackermann

By following this sequence, you can fine-tune the front geometry to achieve a more ideal configuration.

Steering geometry employing reverse trail

It employs a "reverse trail" design that brings the tire axle closer to the steering axis.

This design allows the front tires to respond quickly to steering inputs, resulting in a more direct steering feel.

Expected benefits

  • Improved initial steering response

  • It's easy to get a feel for the front tire's contact with the road.

  • Quick movements when changing direction

  • Even in vehicles with a heavy rear load, the presence of the front end is easily noticeable.

This geometry makes it easy to actively use the front tire.

Kingpin angle can be selected from 3°/8°.

The ball position on the upper arm can be set in two locations, and the kingpin angle can be selected from 3° and 8°.

It accommodates a wide range of settings, from 3° for beginners to 8° for users who want to further pursue their preferred feel.

Since changing the kingpin angle also changes the Ackermann characteristics, combining it with the stepless Ackermann adjustment mechanism of the MERIKEN KNUCKLES 4 allows for more precise settings.

Tread adjustment is also supported.

By using a dedicated spacer, the tire position can be adjusted without replacing the hub or wheel.

You can customize settings such as vehicle width and wheel offset to suit your preferences.

You can also make fine adjustments in 0.1mm increments using shims you already own.

ONI BEA is included as standard equipment.

Furthermore, the MERIKEN KNUCKLES 4 comes standard with HRC's original " ONI-BEA 850 " ceramic ball bearings.

The outer and inner rings are made of high-precision hard stainless steel, and the balls are made of high-precision ceramic balls.

This HRC bearing, while shielded, aims for rotational performance that surpasses that of full ceramic bearings.

Furthermore, because it is dry-coated, it can be used as is without oil if you prioritize rotational performance.

" Ease of rotation " is crucial in RWD .

MERIKEN KNUCKLES 4 are meticulously crafted, not only in the knuckle itself but also in the bearings.

Not only the bearing itself, but also the machining precision of the knuckle that supports the bearing is important.

At HRC, the center axis of both bearings is precisely machined.

The bearings fit smoothly, and the design prioritizes precision in the shaft.

In RWD (rear-wheel drive) cars, it's important that the tires rotate as easily as possible.

The ONI-BEA 850 pursues low friction by employing ceramic balls.

"I want to spin it more easily."

These are HRC original bearings designed for RWD users.
