Reflecting on 2019
Looking back on 2019, it was a big year for R/C Drift as a community and also for all of us here at Super-G. It’s looking like R/C Drift is finally getting a real following here in the states and the discipline is starting to really take hold. The bigger manufactures are taking notice of the Drift segment of R/C and it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing these companies produce products for R/C Drift. We are now seeing more and more tracks and shops open across the U.S. and that is nothing but great news for all of us! Tracks, Shops, and the Community will all benefit.
Super-G Competitions
For Super-G, we have made great strides when it comes to our competitions. Although it was a lot of work, we have established a solid set of rules that have been tested and refined over the course of close to 100 individual comps. This includes going back after the competitions and reviewing footage of the runs to see where we could have done a better job. It was definitely time consuming to say the least, but for the year of 2019 we hosted many comps, including a 10 part point series, and did not find anything we needed to change as far as the judging or rules. We had a solid season and our Competition Finals were insane! The level of skill was amazing! We expect this coming year to be more of the same, but even bigger. With the help of our sponsors, we were able to give to the community over $4k in prizes! We hope to be able to continue to give back the best we can.
Congratulations to Kevin Motter (RawFew) for a commanding win for 2019 taking First Place in the SuperShowdown Series, along side of Mikko Yang (Team Yokomo USA) with a strong Second Place, and Jason Fordyce (RawFew) with an amazing come back from missing the first part of the series to landing Third Place! No easy feat from a field of 65 competitors!
To make sure we did something for the community, we took the opportunity to raffle Congratulations to John Brasko of 1:10 Drift. Through the raffle, we raised $2000.00 which we donated to Breast Cancer Research. Luckily it was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so our donation was doubled to make it a $4,000.00 donation! We felt this was a worthy cause since we all have those special women in our lives, so this was a way to give to everyone, including everyone’s families. This cause also hits close to home because one of the Super-G Family had recently lost his mother to breast cancer, so for us this was a no-brainer.
Events and Travels
We were fortunate enough to be able to visit Sheldon’s Hobbies to slide with the NorCal Super-G Family, Limitied Traction and Team Bushido. We also visited Slidelines R/C in Las Vegas, Vertex R/C in San Diego, Sky Hunter Hobbies in Lancaster.
We also setup R/C Drift Demos at StanceNation Las Vegas, StanceNation Anaheim, StanceNation San Mateo, and joined NoCal again at CarNvl in Pleasanton, and TunerEvolution in Anaheim. Next year promises to be even better!
SuperTwin VI
We rounded out the year with a great event with our brother from Japan, Takayuki Sone (Sonecchi)! Since he’s a world class driver from IROHA Circuit and a member of IROHA WORKS, he’s an expert on Team Tandem Competition. We were lucky enough to be judged by such an awesome driver! The SuperTwin VI was definitely an event to remember and a great way to end 2019!

The Super-G Family
We are excited for the upcoming 2020 Year! Moving forward with our Super-G R/C Drift Family - RawFew, Limited Traction, Team Bushido, Team D-Style and Team Zenshin, we are not just a collective of R/C Drift Teams, but a Single Team of Event Promoters dedicated to bring the community what we feel will push R/C Drift to the next level.
Thank you all for the ongoing support and encouragement. Since we are from the community for the community, it’s extra rewarding when we can help build the scene and try to make it better for all of us! We couldn’t do it without you!
Looking forward to what 2020 has in store for all of us!
