Super Drift Championship 2022 U.S. Finals
September 3, 2022
UPDATES - September 24 <——— LATEST INFO HERE
As of September 24, these are the latest answers some of the questions that have been coming in:
Can I come to compete in the SDC2022 USA Finals if I have not competed in 50% of my regionals?
YES
There are a few ways to qualify without competing in 50% of your regions rounds..
- If you have placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in any of the rounds in your region, you have qualified for the SDC2022 USA Finals, regardless of how many rounds you competed in.
- If you are the owner of the track, or the captain of the team hosting the regionals, you automatically qualify for the SDC2022 USA Finals.
- If you were a judge at 50% or more of the regionals, you automatically qualify for the SDC2022 USA Finals.
There wasn’t any SDC2022 Regionals near me. Can I compete in the SDC2022 USA Finals?
YES
The limit distance limit is 200 miles. If you reside MORE THAN 200 MILES from any SDC2022 Region, you are welcome to compete in the SDC2022 USA Finals.
Make sure to contact steve.superg@gmail.com to confirm eligibility.
I competed in multiple regions but did not compete in 50% or more in either. Can I combine them to qualify for the Finals?
YES - THIS YEAR ONLY
There seems to have been some confusion this year about competing in multiple regions for points / participation points. We will allow participation in multiple regions to be combined to meet the 50% minimum requirement in the region you competed in with the lowest number of rounds required.
Do I need to participate in Qualifying on both Friday Oct. 7 AND Saturday Oct. 8 to participate in the competition on Sunday, Oct. 9?
NO
After much consideration on this topic, the conclusion is Round 1 of Qualifying will be the official start of qualifying. Scores will be recorded and priority will be based on order of score earned.
Example: Competitor 1 scores 95. Competitor 5 scores 95. Competitor 1 will remain in qualifying position 1, and Competitor 5 will be in position 2, etc.
In other words, Round 1 qualifying (qualifying early) definitely has it’s advantages.
Will there be time for my friends to drive on the days of the competition?
YES
The first hour after opening on Friday and Saturday the track will be open to everyone.
After qualifying has concluded, the track will be open to everyone for the remainder of the night.
After the first hour, the track will be limited to competitors only, until the open session at the conclusion of the event for that day.
We will be hosting After-hours sessions on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday where everyone is invited to participate and session. There will be games, prizes and raffles as well.
(Track Fee for Non-Competitors apply for both opening session and After-hours)
How will the first qualifier be choosen?
The first qualifying competitor will be randomly chosen from the Non-Preregistered Competitors. What this means is, if you preregister, you will not be the first to qualify.

Venue Open Time now 10:00am
Drivers Meeting now 11:00am. Practice / Lunch Break to immediately follow

END OF UPDATES
Super Drift Championship 2022 USA Finals
The time is finally here, the 2022 Season of the Super Drift Championship is ramping up for the Finals here at Super-G R/C Drift Arena in Los Angeles, California. October 7, 8, and 9th are the official event dates, with a Meet and Greet on October 6th. The best R/C Drifters from all over the United States have been competing in their respective regions, and will converge on Los Angeles, California to test their skills against the best of the best and a shot at the title of Super Drift Championship USA Drift King. We have been working closely with our NorCal Family, Limited Traction to make this happen.
Last year, even with COVID making things complicated, we had over 65 competitors and the skill level was insane. With the COVID restrictions being lifted, we anticipate the number of competitors to increase. This year the skill in the U.S. has been steadily rising, and we are certain Super Drift Championship 2022 USA Finals will be the best so far.
The Sponsors
Futaba USA, Acuvance, Hoonigan, ScaleReflex, and DS Racing are among some of the sponsors already committed to making this an exceptional event, with more to be added soon. Last year’s raffle was incredible, with most everyone taking home at least something. Some taking home a small fortune.
Track Preparation
We have already started preparing for the the Finals here at Super-G. Due to the number of drivers expected, we made the hard decision to remove the famous Super-G Train Yard Bridge in exchange for at least double the space for drivers. On a slow night we run out of driver space, so we made the tough call to return to a comp style layout. We received many requests to keep the Train Yard layout for Finals. Your voices were heard and taken into serious consideration. Ultimately, we felt this was the best decision for such an event. Our apologies to those who are disappointed.
After-hours at Super-G
Last year we had noticed many were looking for something to keep themselves occupied after the official event days would end. This year we will be hosting After-hour sessions. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Super-G will remain open for casual track sessions, contests, games, etc. The details are not set in stone as of yet, but should make for some good times and great memories.
New Track Layout.
The qualifying line will be disclosed on Friday, October 7th.
Nobody other than myself will be aware of the line that will be used for the Finals.
Please don’t ask, cause I like being the only one who knows.
We have made provisions for everybody to be able to session together, Competitors and Non-Competitors, on every day of Finals Week. So if you are considering coming out, but were not sure if you would be able to drive, rest assured there will be time.
We have worked out special pricing at the Baldwin Park Courtyard Marriott for any of our out of town guests. Just follow the link to access this:
