December 2016
One of our Super-G regulars, Josh G, is no stranger to the world of super detailed RC builds. At any given time he has multiple projects going on, and each one seems to be taking it a step beyond.
We had the pleasure to shoot his latest creation, a Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5 by HPI. Josh has fittingly named this project, Rce Eater.
Josh chose a custom plate from DingSign to give that realistic touch to his California Tag “RCE EATER”
Along with the Tamiya Sky Blue Anodized Aluminum (PS-49) paint on the exterior, you will notice a lot of other fine details such as the small screws on the body kit and rear spoiler. The Roll Cage is clearly visible from any angle.
In addition to the norm, Josh also did some custom fabrication of his own, effectively making this build “his”.
Some of his custom mods are:
*Custom Made Ford RTR Grill made from Styrene sheets
with stainless black steel grille inserts
*Custom made Light buckets,
(modified Yokomo Skyline R35 light buckets)
*Custom Rear Bash Bar fabricated from styrene tubes.
*Fabricated Rear Carbon fiber side bumper canards.
*Custom made Roll cage, made from Styrene Tube and Lexan
*MiniWorks Bodylines
*Tetsujin Aluminum Intercooler
*Fabricated from carpet tape Carbon fiber front Lip, roof and trunk
*Custom made Chin Spoiler (flat black)
*Veterra 2015 Mustang 5.0 mirrors.
*Custom home made stainless steel straight pipe style exhaust.
*Self-taping screws added to the widebody and rear wing
Josh rounded out this build with some Tetsujin Super Rim Dahlias with Black Barrels and Grey centers.
This is definitely one to see in person. All the detail and hard work Josh put into it all works together to form an awesome build. Josh also wanted to make sure to give a shout out to RareArtsUSA for sponsoring this build.
