Another Saturday Night Showdowns this past weekend, and the competition was as fierce as ever! We were lucky enough to have Shilun Gu (Allen) from NorCal joining us for some added excitement! Joe, our regular announcer for our events was out for the night, so one of our own RawFew, Nick Lepisto jumped on the mic. He did a great job and I found myself really enjoying the change of pace. Thanks Nick for stepping up and handing that for us!

Just for fun we have made the Saturday Night Showdowns a point series. It’s all for fun and every participant receives points which will be used at the end of the year.

Points will be awarded as follows:
15 pts – First Place
12 pts – Second Place
10 pts – Third Place
8 pts – Forth Place
7 pts – Fifth Place (Remainder of Top 8)
6 pts – Participation Points

The judges for the night were Manny Campalans, Kevin Motter, and myself. You guys did a great job at the difficult task of judging! Thank you for helping out!

Final Round – Shilun Gu (Red) vs. Aydin Angulo (Silver)

For this weeks competition I decided to leave the clipping points from the previous week since everyone is still becoming familiar with the new layout. It looks like everyone has adapted and the runs were impressive.

The Top 4 came down to Mark Santa Cruz vs Manny Campalans for 3rd and 4th, and Shilun Gu vs. Aydin Angulo for 1st and 2nd. First up was Manny vs. Mark and on the first sweeper Manny ran into a bit of trouble and ended up short-cutting the track. Although he was able to finish his run with Mark on the chase, it really left the door open to an easy victory for Mark. As expected, on Mark’s lead run he was able to put down a smooth run to lock down the 3rd podium spot for the night.

1st Place – Shilun Gu, 2nd Place – Aydin Angulo, 3rd Place – Mark Santa Cruz

Then it was time for the Main Event! Aydin Angulo vs. Shilun Gu (Allen) for the Top Podium Spot! Aydin was able to pull out a great lead, but Allen was determined to show us what he’s all about, and pulled off some amazing proximity with the smoothness to match. On the next run, Allen put down a great lead and Aydin answered back with a great chase. In the end, it wasn’t enough to overcome Allen’s chase, so Allen took home the “W” and Aydin took a respectable 2nd Place!
